Reflection 10/3

I only did a lot of fruit-related product design today, and with the constraints of time, and developing fruit materials, I don't think I'm particularly good at this kind of high-pressure work, especially when we need to finish the design within a specified deadline. I think that although my drawing can be very fast, it's very difficult to come up with a new idea in a short period of time. I think that sometimes this might be because I've been thinking too much and doing too little that I end up with this result. But I think having this time constraint is a good way to spur me on so that I don't procrastinate. Before this, it would often take me about half an hour to come up with a new design, but now with the time and material limitations, I can come up with more designs in a shorter amount of time, and after filtering them out, I can still choose the ones that I really want to do and make them look really good.

The fact is that product design is a challenge for me because I've never done it before. I think it's very interesting, but also very hard for me. At the moment I think product design needs to be created with people's needs in mind and it needs to be very practical and not too fanciful. I think it's a big challenge for me, but I do like to challenge myself, so I find product design very stimulating.

My favourite part about today's course was the making part, where I was able to create the look I wanted to wish for in the shortest amount of time possible. Before this every time I made a model of a shoe, jewellery or building I could spend about two hours making it. Although it is possible to make more detail, this is just too slow and I need to change this. My favourite designer in today's presentation was Jordi Iranzd, he made a basket with fruit in it which I think is not only beautiful but also very useful, it can be used as a decoration, it's great to have beautiful fruits in the basket and the fruits bring in an aroma which makes people feel better when they smell the fresh and tasty fruits. I think the most interesting part of a product designer's job is that they deal with different people and design products for people with different needs.

In fact, I still have a lot of research and reflection to complete this week. Hopefully, I can get it done quickly this weekend.
